Now a 250,000 acre open space preserve sacred to the Native Chumash, the Carrizo Plain National Monument is under unique joint management of the Bureau of Land Management, The Nature Conservancy, and the California Department of Fish & Game. The former farm and ranching lands of the Carrizo are located in an arid region of Central California, and offer a glimpse into the past, present, and future of Man and Nature.
